X-table Lateral Lumbar X-ray Filter
The crosstable lateral lumbar x-ray filter is used to increase visualization of the needle placement. The x-ray filter reduces overexposure of the posterior area of the lumbar spine and reduces primary radiation to the anterior abdomen. The use of two wedges reduces scatter radiation to improve image quality. In addition there are lead strips on the back to insure proper coning. The position of these strips cones 1 inch in the long direction of a 24cm x 30cm image receptor. The technologist positions, cones and moves the x-ray filter into place. No positioning of the filter is required.
