Phillips BoroTruView 3.0 & 5.0 lenses are made for the true glassworking artist. These lenses are specially formulated to offer excellent color recognition when working with colored glass while still providing UV and IR protection. The gray IR filter is color neutral so you can easily see the different colors of the glass and the heat being applied. These revolutionary polycarbonate filter lenses are much lighter than conventional laminated and glass products. If you are working with smaller pieces the BoroTruView 3.0 is for you. For larger pieces like candlesticks and statues, you will need the BoroTruView 5.0.

Mirror Coatings:

A mirrored coating on an optical lens reflects the optical energies striking it. Both visible and invisible. Because all mirrors reflect all Infrared, they help remove heat from the  eyes.

Silver mirrors reflect all Infrared(IR), some of the Ultra Violet (UV) and all visible colors.

Gold mirrors reflect all IR, more of the UV and a greater part of the orange and red spectrum. This tends to give the blue and green wavelengths more contrast.

The other colored mirrors absorb some of their apparent color (red, blue, green, etc)  while also reflecting UV and IR. The apparent view derived increases the contrast of their opposite color (color compliment).  Red/Green, Blue/Orange and so on.

Please note that this contrast effect in colored mirrors is very slight and the main reason for color choice is more aesthetic than functional. The base shade of the lens is the greatest influence of the view through the lens. The mirrors main function is to reflect Infrared.

Shipping is expensive. KMI has little control over the freight costs calculated directly from USPS, FedEx or UPS.

Please Note: Porch Piracy is a world wide problem. Please consider using a commercial address for shipping. UPS and FedEx have retail establishments where you can have your package delivered even if shipped via the USPS.

U.S. Postal Service

Pros:

  1. Least expensive in general for most small items.
  2. Good reliability

Cons:

  1. Tracking can be unreliable. At times the tracking NEVER updates.
  2. Slightly slower than UPS/FedEx.
  3. If your package gets lost, there is no customer service. We can only use the tracking to hopefully see where your package may be. If your package is lost or delayed, our only recourse is to file a “lost package” report. We rarely see results from the USPS. If your package gets hung up in customs, KMI has no way of finding out why through the USPS. If tracking indicates that your package is in your country’s customs office, please contact the customs office. KMI has no way of contacting them.

UPS/FedEx

Pros:

  1. Much more reliable tracking
  2. They have actual customer service and we can contact a real human for help.
  3. Generally faster than USPS

Cons:

  1. Much more expensive than USPS

International Shipments:

International shipments are subject to customs fees and/or taxes by your customs department. This is out of our control. We do not charge customs fees or taxes. That means you must be available to receive your package from your local delivery person and you may need to pay these fees upon delivery.
